The Round Rock Area Serving Center is pleased to introduce The Volunteer Center, a program of the
Round Rock Area Serving Center. In order to serve the community better and cut costs, the Round Rock
Volunteer Center has filed for dissolution and will close down the nonprofit volunteer organization
effective December 31, 2008. Effective January 1, 2009, the clearinghouse services will be operated as
a program of the Round Rock Area Serving Center.
The Volunteer Center, a program of the Round Rock Area Serving Center, will begin operations from the
Serving Center facility in January. Elizabeth Leyva, formerly the Assistant to the Director of the
Round Rock Volunteer Center, has been hired as the Program Manager of The Volunteer Center.
The new office of The Volunteer Center will be located at 1099 E. Main Street, Round Rock, on the 2nd
floor of the Serving Center. The phone number and website will remain unchanged: (512) 733-7625 and
volrock@volrock.org.
“The Round Rock Area Serving Center is committed to promoting the growth and strengthening the mission
of The Volunteer Center in Williamson County. We are excited about offering the volunteer services
while operating the volunteer center more efficiently,” stated Lori Scott, Executive Director. “The
volunteer center operation will function more efficiently because the overhead expenses are absorbed
by the Serving Center to reduce duplication and cut costs.”
The role of the volunteer center is to serve as a clearinghouse for volunteers and nonprofits. The
Serving Center intends to operate the volunteer center programs without interruption or major changes.
